CCT Announces Summer Schedule

May 2, 2007 – Caribbean Community Theatre's three productions this summer will be "The Odd Couple," a comedy by Neil Simon; "Parallel Lives," comedy sketches by comedians Kathy Najimy and Mo Gaffney; and "Ain't Misbehavin'," a musical revue by Fats Waller. "The Odd Couple" is a Tony-award winning comedy about two mismatched roommates, one uptight and the other a slob. Felix Ungar, a neurotic, neat freak, is thrown out by his wife, and moves in with Oscar Madison, a slovenly sportswriter, and the saga begins… Debby Babb directs this hilarious comedy which stars Michael Armendariz as Felix and Lionel Downer as Oscar, with Micah Maples, Derek Martin and Kasey Willard as their poker-playing buddies, and Tish Mercier and Juanita Feldhamer as the Pigeon Sisters. Kiomie Pedrini is the stage manager. Performance dates are 8 p.m., on Friday and Saturday, May 11-12, 18-19, June 1-2, and a Sunday matinee on June 3, at 4 p.m.
CCT's second summer production will be "Parallel Lives," written by comedians Mo Gaffney and Kathy Najimy. Based on their award-winning TV special, it is a very funny collection of sketches from angels discussing how best to create the world to matronly ladies taking a "Womyn's Study" class. Eileen Bishop Des Jardins will direct this comedy, which opens June 29, and runs until July 14th. Auditions will be held at 7 p.m., on Tuesday, May 15 and Wednesday, 16.
The third summer production is the award-winning musical revue, "Ain't Misbehavin', " celebrating the music of Thomas "Fats" Waller, who became famous during the days of the Cotton Club in Harlem, stride piano players and swing. This sometimes funny, heartwarming, sultry, sassy, swingin' and finger-snapping musical is considered one of Broadway's best. Patrick Baron will provide music direction, and it will run Aug. 10 through Aug. 25, with auditions at 7 p.m., on Tuesday, June 12 and Wednesday, June 13.
All events are at CCT's Theater at No. 18 Estate Orange Grove in Christiansted. For more information, call 778-1983 or check out CCT's Web site at www.cct.vi.
