Results of 25th Annual National Library Week/Run

April 23, 2007 – The 25th Annual National Library Week Run To Your Library was one of the closeout events of an activity-filled week at the Florence Williams Public Library On Saturday, De Wayne Smith led the group of 30-plus runners and took first place with a time of 19 minutes 40 seconds in the 5K road race run on a circuit in historic Christiansted. Ninfa Barnard, a junior at The St. Croix Educational Complex High School and The St. Croix Track Club and the top high school middle distance runner in the Virgin Islands, was the first female finisher and third overall with a time of 20:30. Among the male runners, Richard Jeanpierre was second in 20:11, and Ben Doornbos was third in 21:42. Mireille Smith was the second female finisher in 22:35, and Sara Bostwic was third in 24:09.

The next race on the V.I. Pace calendar is The 19th Annual Paradise 5K at 6 p.m., on Thursday, May 3, at The Buccaneer Hotel followed by the annual Children Run Charistiansted to be held at 6 p.m., on Friday, May 4, at Sunday Market Square.
