Congressional H.S. Art Competition Winners Announced

April 21, 2007 – The Congressional Art Competition winners were announced in Frederiksted. The annual competition, in conjunction with the Virgin Islands Council on the Arts, showcases the talent of high school artists. They submit their art, which is judged by a panel of Virgin Islands professionals, who choose a winner to enter the Capitol Hill competition.
The winners of the 2007 competition are: first place Irene Cruz of St. Croix Central High School; second place Bianca Moscia Harley of Charlotte Amalie High School; and third place Charee Miller of the Eudora Kean High School.
The winner and her chaperone will travel to Washington, D.C. to participate in the nationwide competition, which will be held on June 28. The artwork of the winner will hang in the Capitol for the entire year of the exhibition.
"We are pleased to have yet another year of talented young people, who submit their art for competition and represent the artistic talent of our territory. I congratulate the winners and thank all the students and their teachers for their continued enthusiasm for this program," said Delegate Donna Christensen.
