Education Plans Summer Feeding Program and Workshops

March 7, 2007 – There will be a summer feeding program for children ages 18 and under, according to a press release from the State Director for the VI Department Education Special Nutrition Programs, Elodia Weekly,
"Persons 19 years of age and over who have a mental or physical disability (as determined by State or local educational agency) and who participate during the school year in a public or private non-profit school program established for the mentally or physically disabled are also eligible to receive meals." Weekly said.
All public or non-profit organizations may participate as a sponsor of the program. Application packets are available at the Special Nutrition Office.
The schedule of workshops for sponsors of the program:
St. Thomas-St. John – 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, March 28, at the Herman A. Lloyd Center, 1403 Fourth Street, Sugar Estate – Third Floor.
St. Croix – 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, March 29, at the Education Curriculum Center in Kingshill.
