Brief: Coast Guard Rescues Missing Diver Off Saint Croix

March 2, 2007 — A U.S. Coast Guard response boat crew rescued a diver from the water Thursday who went missing after diving on a reef on the eastern side of Sandy Point, according to a Coast Guard release issued Friday.
St. Croix resident Idelfonso García, 62, went missing after approximately 1:30 p.m.; his diving partner, Hector Alamo, reported to the Coast Guard at approximately 2:45 p.m.
At approximately 4 p.m., rescue crews located and recovered Garcia from the water with no medical injuries.
Garcia was transported to Fredricksted, where he was turned over to Emergency Medical Service personnel waiting at the pier.
