Brief: Audubon Plant Sale Coming in March

Feb. 23, 2007 — Give your garden a spring fling with some plants from the V.I. Audubon Society's 10th-annual plant sale. The St. John-based organization will hold the sale from 9 a.m. to noon March 10 in Cruz Bay Park.
"We have great plants," said Audubon Society Secretary Terry Pishko.
The plants come from member's gardens, so they're proven to grow in this climate, she said. Additionally, local garden centers are donating plants for the Audubon Society to sell. The sale includes crotons, bromeliads, palms, agaves, ground covers and other garden favorites.
"And we anticipate we'll have some orchids," Pishko said.
The money raised helps the Audubon Society fund activities such as maintenance and improvements to the Small Pond at Frank Bay, a wildlife sanctuary. The money also goes to further youth-education programs.
Anyone interested in donating plants should bring them to Elaine Estern at the Coconut Coast Studios at Frank Bay any time before March 10, or to Cruz Bay Park on March 10.
