Feb. 20, 2007 – The 2007 St. Croix District Spelling Bee will feature 26 students from the district's public, private and parochial schools, who will compete at 9:30 a.m., on Friday, Feb. 23, in the Juanita Gardine Elementary School auditorium, according to a press release from Charlene A. Matthew, district language arts coordinator.
Spelling bee participants and represented schools are: Diana Cardenas, Pearl B. Larsen Elementary; Shaquille Thomas, Elena Christian Junior High; Keione James, Lew Muckle Elementary; Rashid Iles, Arthur A. Richards Junior High; Kiara Abramson, St. Mary's; Jo-Ann Thomas-Lewis, Seventh Day Adventist School; Erin Bryan, Eulalie Rivera Elementary; Tamika Thompson, Charles Emanuel Elementary; Diarra Thomas, Manor School; Nellisa Benjamin, St. Croix Christian Academy; Ismail Yusuf, IQRA Academy; Katie Morgan, Country Day; Chenelle Adams, Alexander Henderson Elementary School; Malachi Bess, Free Will Baptist; K'ianna Watson, Claude O. Markoe Elementary; Henry Mark, Good Hope; Kimberly Cruz, Alfredo Andrews Elementary; Raedyance Nicks, School of the Good Shepherd; Mhaleek Nichols, Juanita Gardine Elementary; Adrian Gordon, John H. The Department of Education's Curriculum, Assessment and Technology Division, the St. Croix Superintendent's Office, the Virgin Islands Daily News, Scholastic Incorporated, Houghton Mifflin Company, Pearson Education Caribbean and participating schools are all sponsors of the spelling bee.
