Results 2007 Elementary Track and Field Series

Feb. 4, 2007 – Over 100 elementary school boys and girls competed in the first in a series of Elementary School Track and Field meets at the St. Croix Educational Complex High School track. Their ages ranged from 5 to 12 years old with a couple of races for toddlers. The meet dates are: Feb. 2, 9, 23, and March 9, and the championship will be held on March 17.
In the boys' 9-10 year olds 200-meters, Malique Smith of the Sunny Isle Baptist Christian School (SIBCS) led the way with a time of 30.71; Evanson Mathew of Pearl B. Larsen Elementary School (PBLES) was second in 32.38; Khing-K'Jhani John of PBLES was third in 33.67. For the boys 11-12 years old, Christophe Wilson of Church of God Holiness Academy (CGHA) took first place in 29.41; Joshue Hodge of Claude O. Markoe Elementary School (COMES) was second in 29.74 and Jose Martinez of COMES was third in 30.18.
In the girls 9-10 years old 200-meters Karen Dascent of RRES won in 29.96; Jaxmin Connor of Alredo Andrews Elementary School (AAES) was second in 33.45; Nadia George of CGHA was third in 35.47. Jateesha Ellis of COMES was the first female in the 11-12 year old girls in 31.48; Kynara Sampy of AAES was the second place finisher in 32.16 and Chasidy Bernier of PBLES was third in 32.61.
In the boys 8 and under 600-meters, Barthelemy Peter of CGHA was the winner with a time of 2:19.51; Adriel Sanes also of CGHA was second in 220.59; Tariq Romain of ERES was third place in 2:23.28. In the girls 8 and under 600-meter, Janubia Sweeney of COMES was first in 2:33.68; Stefanie Matthew of ERES was second in 2:43.03; and Mikaela Smith of COMES was third in 2:43.31.
In the 800-meters girls 9-10, Karen Dascent took another first-place with a time of 3:19.73; Jamaris Washshah of CGHA was second in 3:29.21; Caryn Williams of SIBCS was third in 4:04.51. The boys 9 to 10, 800-meters was led by Malique Smith, who picked up his second first-place award with a time of 2:51.37; Jahan Providence of AAES was second in 3:13.74 and Victor Ozoria of AAES was third in 3:34.01.
Kadesha Barry of AAES led the 11-12 girls with a time of 2:53.40; Jateesha Ellis of COMES was second in 3:11.58 and Jasmine Willock of CGHA was third in 3:31.50. Francis Dunley of ERES was top finisher for the boys in 3:18.66; Trevor Valery of ERES was the second place finisher in 3:34.14 and Al Joseph of ERES was third in 3:36.17.
In the field events the athletes competed in the long jump and the baseball throw. In the boys 8 and under, Shayquan Grant of CGHA was first with a jump of 10' 10.5"; Barthelemy Peter of CGHA was second with a jump of 10' 10"; and in third place was Adriel Sanes of CGHA 10' 10." For the girls, Annika Benders of ERES was first with a jump of 6' 5;" Mhina Barry CGHA was second 6' 2.5;" and Domonique Willock of CGHA was third with 5' 10.5."
For the girls' 9-10 long jump, Nadia George CGHA was the first place finisher with 7" 11.25"; Britney Anthony of PBLES was second in 7' 7/5"; Thirza Daniel of CGHA was third with 5' 10". Malique Smith of CGHA took his third first place award with a jump of 9'5.5"; Khing-K'Jhani John of PBLES was second in 8'5"; Kyle Christopher of COMES was third with 8'5".
In the girls 11 -12 long jump, Jazmine Willock of CGHA was first in 11'8"; Rosa Clemente of CGHA was second in 10'2"; and Jaylay Galloway of CGHA was third in 9'3.5". For the boys, Jose Martinez of COMES was first in 11'9"; K'Andre Dorival of PBLES was second in 10'7"; Christophe Wilson of CGHA was third with 10'4".
For the baseball throw, girls 8 and under, O'Thainia Johannes of SIBCS was first with 46'7"; Rodaysha Canton of SIBCS was second with 29'3" and Vanessa Willie of SIBCS was third with 27'8". For the boys De'Vonteh Williams of CGHA was first with105'3"; Barthelemy Peter CGHA was second with 92'9"; and Ketron Springette SIBCS was third 76'6".
For the boys' 9-10 years old baseball throw Evanson Matthew of PBLES was first with 138'4"; khing-K'Jhani John of PBLES was second with 128'4"; and Jahan Providence of AAES was third with 102'5". For the girls, Britney Anthony of PBLES was first with 54'6"; Jamaris Washsah of CGHA was second with 52'6"; and Caryn Williams of SIBCS was third with 18'9".
In the boys 11-12 baseball throw Leroy Simmonds of AAES was first with 185'0"; Jose Martinez was second with 159'0"; and Javon Douglas of COMES was third with 146'4".
The St. Croix Elementary Track and Field Series is organized by the St. Croix Track Club and the V.I. Pace Runners and sanctioned by the St. Croix Interscholastic Association and the Virgin Islands Track and Field Federation.
Medals are presented to the top three athletes in their divisions and ribbons to the remaining finishers up to seven overall. Trophies will be awarded to the most valuable athletes on championship day and to the top three teams.
