Feb. 4, 2007 – Arts Alive will present Concerts in the Garden at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 14, at Tillett Gardens, featuring Texas singer-songwriter Sara Hickman. She will be accompanied by back up vocalist Kristin DeWitt and the keyboard of Eddie Hobizal, who has been a member of the highly regarded Will Taylor's Strings Attached. Both DeWitt and Hobizal have released their own solo recordings.
The Dallas Morning News says of Sara Hickman, that "her voice remains like a force of nature;" Rolling Stone magazine said that "her uplifting perspectives have the power to heal;" and the Associated Press praised Sara "for her melodic sense, excellent playing, rich voice, and mix of sunny optimism with heartache." The Maverick Report stated that "not only is Sara a singer-songwriter of excellence, but she possesses a self-confidence and empowerment unheard by a creative artist in this industry."
Sara Hickman has been a guest on the Tonight Show, hosted her own VH-1 Special, and has been a featured artist on Austin City Limits. She has performed fundraising concerts for Habitat for Humanity and the SPCA, and in 2004 she came to St. Thomas and did a concert to benefit Kidscope, raising over $10,000 for their programs.
Tickets for the concert are $30 or $66, which includes a price fixe dinner, including gratuity. Reservations are recommended.
