Brief: Man Missing After Ferry and Pleasure Boat Collide

Jan. 28, 2007 — Rescue boats and helicopters were searching seas around Caneel Bay, St. John, for a man missing after a pleasure boat and the Native Son ferry collided around 9:30 p.m. Sunday, officials said.
The collision threw four people into the water, said Jaime Balzac, chief petty officer with the U.S. Coast Guard.
Three were uninjured and rescued, Balzac said. The fourth — a man roughly 200 pounds and wearing a white hat, white shirt and yellow shorts — was still missing.
Few other details about the accident were immediately available.
Coast Guard officials were interviewing the three rescued people on St. John, Balzac said.
Acting Police commissioner James McCall said National Park Service vessels had also joined the search.
