Lt. Gov. Francis Announces Medicare Part B Enrollment Period

Jan. 24, 2007 – Lieutenant Governor Gregory R. Francis announced that Medicare Part B general enrollment began on Jan. 3, and will continue until March 31.
The lieutenant governor oversees V.I. SHIP (State Health Insurance Assistance Program) and Medicare as part of his statutory responsibilities and is encouraging all Medicare beneficiaries without Part B to enroll during this period at any of the territory's Social Security Administration offices. To enroll in Medicare Part B, beneficiaries should contact the Social Security Administration office at 778-5946 on St. Croix or at 774-5247 on St. Thomas.
"There is only a limited opportunity for Medicare beneficiaries to enroll," Francis said. "Having medical insurance is an important part of staying healthy, especially as we get older."
For more information about Medicare Part B and its benefits, call VI SHIP at 714-4354 on St. Thomas and 772-7368 on St. Croix.
