Literacy Through the Arts Sponsors Panel Discussion

Jan. 12, 2007 – Promoting Literacy Through the Arts (PLTTA), an after-school program sponsored by St. Croix Library Association and Caribbean Museum Center for the Arts, will be hosting a panel discussion on "Entrepreneurship and the Arts" at 3:30 p.m., on Tuesday, Jan. 16. The event will take place at CMCArts located on 10 Strand St., downtown Frederiksted. The panel presenters will include:
1. Peter Booth, former senior vice president of Corning & Entrepreneur
Topic: Qualities of a successful entrepreneur and how they relate to artists
2. Ivan Butcher, art educator/artist and president of The Butcher Shop Cut to Your Taste: Custom Design & Art Services
Topic: Art as an alternative vocation
3. Johanna Bermudez Ruiz, independent filmmaker
Topic: Trails and accomplishments as an independent filmmaker
4. Rick Carrington, director of CHANT (Crucian Heritage And Nature Tourism)
Topic: The artist’s role as culture bearer in keeping our heritage and culture alive
