What's Up Next on the Doug Lewis Show

Jan. 9, 2007 – Tune into the Doug Lewis Show on WVGN 107.3 FM from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 14. This Sunday we will feature music by Loreena McKennit, the Hellhounds, Kacey Jones, the Supremes, the Hank Hankshaw Band and more.
The Modern Music Feature CD is "An Ancient Muse" by Loreena McKennit. This is McKennit's first new release in more than five years and it is a beautiful melding of Celtic music with a Middle Eastern influence. Loreena McKennit has a beautiful soprano voice and the vocals are clear and the arrangements stellar. Thanks to Verve Forecast records we have an extra copy of this CD and will be giving away a copy of this CD on the show.
The Indie Spotlight CD is "Halfway Between Somewhere and Nowhere" by the Hellhounds. This is an exciting band that mixes blues with roots rock and roll.
We play new music from the Phantom Blues Band, Kacey Jones, alternative country artist Brian Burns and more.
We include tunes from Rory Block, Sonny and Cher, Ruthie Foster, the Supremes, Tom Rush and more.
We celebrate the birthdays of the great New Orleans musician Allen Toussaint and musician and producer T Bone Burnett.
We include music from Kacey Cubero, who will be playing at various venues in the Virgin Islands from Jan. 3- 15, and Otis Taylor, who will play at Tillett Gardens on Jan. 24. We also include music from Down the Line. Dan and Levi of Down the Line will be doing some Virgin Islands dates in January.
We play music from the Hank Hankshaw Band, who will perform in the Virgin Islands from Jan. 17-29, at various venues. We also include music from Cletus McBride, who is currently playing at Molly Molones and Joey Gilmore, who will be appearing at the St. John Blues Festival on March 24.
We give you a chance to win a copy of the new Loreena McKennitt CD and the new release from the Daddy Mack Blues Band.
Doug Lewis Show is underwritten by Hook, Line and Sinker; Molly Molones; and St. Thomas Radiology Associates.
