Abigail Thomas Amaro Dies at 44

Jan. 9, 2007 – Abigail Thomas Amaro, also known as "Abby," died on Jan. 3, at the age of 44. She was born on St. Thomas and received her bachelor's degree in elementary education from the University of the Virgin Islands. She was employed as a teacher at Lockhart Elementary School for over 20 years and also taught at the Lutheran Church of the Reformation's summer program.
She is survived by her husband, Jose Amaro Sr.; mother, Valencia Christian; father, Rudolph Thomas; daughter, Jyrell Amaro; and sons: Jose Amaro Jr. and Jerrick Amaro. Other survivors include sisters: Patricia A. Thomas, Dr. Linda Callwood and Melene Thomas; brothers: Dale and Brian Thomas; adopted brother, Jeffrey Malone; stepmother, Carolyn Thomas; and stepfather, Angel Callwood. She is also survived by grandmother, Eulalie Lopie Lopez James as well as many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
There will be a viewing from 5-7 p.m., on Friday, Jan. 12, at the Davis Funeral Home. A second viewing will be held from 9-10 a.m., on Saturday, Jan. 13, at Wesley Methodist Church, followed at 10 a.m. by a funeral service at the church.
Funeral arrangements are by Davis Funeral Home, 774-1464.
