St. Croix Man Dies After Stabbing Incident at Festival Village

Jan. 7, 2007 — A 24-year-old St. Croix man died early Sunday morning after being stabbed at Festival Village on St. Croix.
Jovan Joseph of Anna's Hope was attacked by a group of four men at 12:46 a.m. near the children's rides in an apparent altercation over Joseph's girlfriend, a release from the V.I. Police Department said.
"Preliminary reports indicate that a group of four male suspects may have attacked Mr. Joseph after he approached them about harassing his girlfriend," said the release from Shawna Richards, police public information officer.
The victim received what appeared to be a single stab wound to the body in the attack, the release said. Joseph was taken by ambulance to the Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital, where he succumbed to his injury.
This was the second homicide of 2007. The first occurred last Thursday on St. John in a shootout with police.
A police source said there were witnesses to Sunday's stabbing and it was hoped the suspects would be apprehended quickly.
Anyone with information on this crime or any incident is urged to contact the confidential Criminal Investigation Bureau hotline at (340)778-4950 or 911.
