Maho Bay to Present New Age Workshops in Jan./ Feb.

Jan. 19, 2007 — Author Jon Kabat-Zinn, an expert in stress reduction and meditation, will be visiting the territory in January. He is author of numerous books including Coming to Your Senses.
According to Kabat-Zinn, “This is a time to renew and recharge, to explore our lives at a deeper level and learn tools for a lifetime of well-being. He will be adding an additional workshop on Sat. 1/20/07 at 10 a.m. to noon at Maho Bay Campground. Please see the amended schedule below.
His workshop, scheduled for Jan. 15-21, will have limited seating. His free lecture, at the St. John School of Arts (SJSA) will be Monday, Jan. 15 at 7:30 p.m.
The classes are discounted for all locals at $35 per class or $350 for the week. The speakers will give the community, through Omega, one class for free in Cruz Bay at the SJSA classroom at the lumberyard. (Please see the schedule of all the presenters and where to get more information at the end of this article.)
The statement, "Achieving Peace Through Higher Consciousness," is from John Perkins. He is one of many speakers who will be giving workshops in St. John from Jan. 15 to Feb. 5 at Maho Bay. Perkins is the author of the best-selling, Confessions of an Economic Hit Man. In his workshops, he shows participants how to achieve personal and global peace and prosperity by expanding one's consciousness and shape-shifting our institutions, according to a press release issued last week. Perkins will have workshops at Maho during the week of Jan. 21-28.
David Nichtern will be the third speaker to present to the community for free at the SJSA on Monday, Jan. 29. He is the senior teacher in the Shambhala Buddhist lineage. His workshops will be Jan. 28 to Feb. 4.
Next is Steven Michael Pague, who will be sharing his knowledge of Qigong, using the transformative energy gathered from ancient times connecting qi, or vital energy, to manifest radiant health. According to the release: "Pague is also the co-director and host of Omega’s Maho Bay program, combining his skills of gathering people with music and movement to help tap into the sacred heart of the mysteries."
He will be presenting during the entire three weeks at Maho and is also the final speaker during the Monday evening classes that are free to the community on Feb. 5 at the SJSA classroom. (Pague will also be at Island Blues, singing with his daughter, Kenna, on Feb. 6 and then Feb. 9 at Shipwreck and accompanied by David Wegman, who also conducts an artistic workshop and plays music with Omega at Maho Bay.)
For more information about the presenters during the three weeks at Maho with Omega, go to Omega website and click on St. John.
For local schedules, please see St. John Sun Times calendar, go by Connections front door or St. John Source.com or email Viki Brown or call 693-5308.
After figuring out the workshop you wish to attend, go to the Maho Bay Campground dining room and look for the Omega bulletin board to see where the speaker is presenting, which would be the upper or lower pavilion and either 10 a.m. to noon or 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and some evenings. (This is where you will pay for the classes.)
A special thanks also goes out to SJSA for allowing the community to have these presenters for free during these three weeks!
