What's Up Next on the Doug Lewis Show

Dec. 26, 2006 – Tune into the Doug Lewis Show on WVGN 107.3 FM from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 31. This Sunday we will feature music by Sting, Renea Mitchell, Bnois King, Rufus Wainwright, Otis Taylor and more.

The Modern Music Feature CD is "Songs from the Labyrinth" by Sting. This CD is a real departure for Sting as he puts his imprint on the world of classical music. It is the number one selling CD on the classical charts and features the music and lyrics of John Dowland, who lived in the 16th and 17th centuries. Classical lute player Eden Karamasov accompanies him, and Sting also plays the lute on this CD. It is a little different but is very interesting and inspiring.
The Indie Spotlight CD is "The Road of Love" by Renea Mitchell. This is not really a blues CD but basically a soul music album that is contemporary but evocative of much of the great soul music that ruled the charts in the seventies.
We include some New Year's theme music from Lightning Hopkins, Anke Summerhill, Rufus Wainwright and more.
We also include new music from contemporary folk artist Ellis Paul, blues artist E.G. Kight, Jeff Lang and more.
We play tunes from Smokin Joe Kubek and Bnois King, the Derailers, the Duhks, the Hollywood Blue Flames and more.
We celebrate the birthdays of Burton Cummings of the Guess Who, Paul Westerberg, Peter Quaife of the Kinks, John Denver, and Andy Summers of the Police. We also remember Rick Nelson and songwriter Bert Berns on the anniversary of their deaths.
We include music from Kacey Cubero, who will be playing at various venues in the Virgin Islands from Jan. 3-15; Angelique Kidjo, who plays at the Reichhold Center on Jan. 13; Otis Taylor, who plays at Tillett Gardens on Jan. 24; and the Billy Gibson Band, who will perform on March 24 at the St. John Blues Festival.
Tune in for a chance to win two tickets to see Angelique Kidjo at the Reichhold Center on St. Thomas on Jan. 14
We also give you a chance to win a copy of Dion's Grammy nominated "Bronx in Blue" CD and a chance to win the Grammy nominated "All the Roadrunning" CD from Mark Knopfler and Emmylou Harris.
Doug Lewis Show is underwritten by Hook, Line and Sinker; Molly Molones; and St. Thomas Radiology Associates.
