Brief: V.I. Flags at Half-Mast in Honor of Former President Gerald R. Ford

Dec. 28, 2006 — Gov. Charles W. Turnbull has ordered the territory's flags be flown at half-mast in honor of former President Gerald. R. Ford, who died Tuesday at the age of 93.
The 38th president of the United States, Ford is the only unelected American president in history, having been appointed vice president after the resignation of Vice President Spiro Agnew in 1973. Ford then succeeded Richard Nixon following his resignation on Aug. 9, 1974, at the height of the Watergate scandal.
