Taxi and Tour Operators Must Know Their Stuff

Dear Source:
That is just a fantastic idea………testing people who wish to spread the good word as far as history to visitors to these shores. It should have happened a long time ago. I come across taxi drivers who make up their 'own' stories, and several of them do not know the history of the USVI. A few are difficult to understand because English is not their first language.
In New York City where I guided 25 years ago you had to go through a rigorous test to be certified. Upon certification you received and wore a pin showing tourists and locals that you knew your stuff. It would be nice to add the pin to the people who are willing, able, qualified, and certified to tell the history and culture of the U.S. Virgin Islands. What a great way to show how proud they are to know and show.
Warm regards from a Danish guide.
