Free License Plates Now Available to Veterans

Dec. 7, 2006 Virgin Islands veterans' license plates have arrived and are available for pick up from the Office of Veterans Affairs on St. Croix and St. Thomas.
"In accordance with Title 20 of the V. I. Code, the plates will be issued free to veterans who have a vehicle registered in their name. Plates for the physically challenged are also available with proof of disability," according to a press release from Justin Harringan Sr., V.A. director.
To receive a set of license plates, veterans must present a copy of their DD214 or an official veteran's identification card and their current vehicle registration. There is a $10 fee payable to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles for the transfer of the registration.
