Island Lynx Lowers Fares

Sept. 15, 2006 – Island Lynx is adjusting its regular schedule to reflect seasonal travel patterns beginning Monday, Sept. 18 through Tuesday, Oct. 31. During this period, it will not be offering any ferry service on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. Ferries will travel twice daily from St. Croix on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays at 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. with return trips from St. Thomas at 9:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. On Saturday and Sunday, ferries will depart St. Croix at 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. with return departures from St. Thomas at 10:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. The Island Lynx vessel is now available for charters on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Island Lynx also announced that from Sept. 15 through Oct. 31 it was reducing fares. Adult roundtrip passenger tickets will be reduced to $68 from $78. Senior citizens will pay $63 instead of $73, and children and students will pay $58.
Children under two years old ride free. Groups of 10 or more booking and traveling together will qualify for an additional discount based on actual group size.
The recently introduced "fuel surcharge" is being suspended due to the reduction in fuel oil prices announced earlier this week. "We understand the importance of a competitively priced year-round ferry service to the local community and, although fuel oil prices remain high and continue to be a major cost consideration for us, as stakeholders, we are pleased to be able to suspend the fuel surcharge," said Robert Siebengartner, managing partner of Island Lynx.
