July 5, 2006 – Tune into the Doug Lewis Show on WVGN 107.3 FM, Sunday, July 9, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. This Sunday we will feature Billy Joel, the Jazzabillies,Tom Wilson, Wanda Jackson, Rosie Flores and more.
The Modern Music Feature CD is "12 Gardens Live" by Billy Joel. Billy has not released any new rock or pop material for a few years now, as he seems to be more interested in writing classical music for the time being. However, he continues to tour and this two-CD collection features some of his best known and best-loved tunes recorded live during a 12 night booking at Madison Square Garden in New York.
The Indie Spotlight CD is "Show Me" from the Jazzabillies, a new exciting band that mixes jazz riffs with bluegrass sounds.
We celebrate the birthdays of Lee Hazelwood, Mitch Mitchell of the Jimi Hendrix Experience, and former Eagle Bernie Leadon.
We include a track from the Classic Rock All Stars, a group featuring the lead singers from Sugarloaf, Rare Earth, Iron Butterfly, and Cannibal and the Headhunters. They will be playing on Sunday, July 9, at the Chenay Bay Beach Resort on St. Croix.
We play new music from Tom Wilson, blues artist Bernard Allison, the Cornell Hurd Band, rockabilly queen Wanda Jackson and more.
