Children's Carnival Village Opening

June 29, 2006 – The St. John Community Foundation's Children's Carnival Village opens at 6 p.m. Thursday. The Foundation, along with dozens of volunteers each night, will host hundreds of children and their parents in an alcohol- and drug-free zone of fun, situated at the National Park parking lot area in Cruz Bay from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m Thursday through Monday.
The Foundation charges a 50 cent fee for the children to play games where they can win coins to redeem prizes at the booth. Hot Wheels™ cars will be available to buy for $1.50 to race in the Hot Wheels™ racing game. Instant photos of children and their families will be available in a colorful card for $1.50 each. Soft drinks, popcorn and snow cones will be available for $1 each.
Here is a list of the types of games and booths which are available to the children and their parents:
Basketball throw, baseball throw, football throw, darts, bowling, strong man, little strong man, Hot Wheels™ racing, frog toss, instant photo booth, face painting, fake tattooing, mask making, sandbox hunt, duck splash, popcorn, cotton candy, snow cones, soft drinks.
Contributors for this year's Carnival are: Virgin Grand Estates Homeowners Association, Bay Isle Associates, Baker, Magras & Associates Caribbean Villas, Stone Cottage, ViVa Villas, Central Restaurant Products, Raintree Business Services, Public Works, St. John Hardware, Sen. Lorraine Berry, ABC Construction, Carlson Construction, Rotary Club of St. John, Caneel Bay Resort, Palm Jewelers, Westin Resort, Fish Trap, Lime Inn, J.J.'s Texas Coast, Mixology Warehouse, Banana Deck, Baked in the Sun, Dolphin Market, Starfish Market, Merchants Market, Bellows, Sogo's, Tradewinds, SunTimes, Elizabeth Schmidt, Ronnie's Pizza, Victor Provost, and Love City Leapers.
Each night 20 to 30 volunteers are needed to run the games and help with the setup and breakdown. If you would like to volunteer your time, please call 693-8590.
To make a contribution, send your tax-deductible check, made out to the St. John Community Foundation, to P.O. Box 1020, Cruz Bay, St. John, VI 00831, and mark your check for "Children's Carnival 2006."
