Port Authority Meeting Lacks Quorum

June 21, 2006 – The V.I. Port Authority board meeting scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday was canceled due to the lack of a quorum.
Board chairman Robert O'Connor said that four members are required to be present in order for the board to vote on issues listed on Wednesday's agenda. However, as of 11 a.m., the only members present were O'Connor, Attorney General Kerry Drue and Hector Peguero.
Tourism Commissioner Pamela Richards, Planning and Natural Resources Commissioner Dean C. Plaskett, Public Works Commissioner George Phillips, James Rodgers and Leslie Milliner were absent.
After the meeting, O'Connor said Plaskett and Richards were attending a funeral on St. Croix, while Phillips was called to another meeting.
Board members were scheduled to receive an update from the board's property committee, discuss applications for concessions at the Cyril E. King Airport on St. Thomas and vote on various leases.
After the meeting, Darlan Brin, VIPA executive director, said the board would try to organize a special meeting later in the week to address the issues.
