Pillsbury Sound Race Enjoys Clear Skies

May 21, 2006 – There was wonderful weather Sunday for the annual Pillsbury Sound Race hosted by the St. Thomas Yacht Club. Seven yachts competed in the racing class and completed the course in Pillsbury Sound, finishing at the St. Thomas Yacht Club.
Boats varied in size and raced under the CSA rating system, with the eventual winner correcting out four minutes ahead of second place.
Winds were east-southeast at 15 to 18 knots, while seas were moderate to smooth.
The next regatta is match racing at the Nations Cup Trials in Charlotte Amalie Harbor from June 6 to 11, with the best match racers from the Western Hemisphere competing for only two to three spots to go to the Cup in Ireland this September.
