May 16, 2005 – The St. Thomas-St. John District of the Virgin Islands Democratic Party announced its First Annual Scholarship Essay. The winner will receive a $400 U.S. Savings Bond.
Contest guidelines:
If you are a high school graduating senior and a registered Democrat or a relative of a registered Democrat, you are eligible to enter the Scholarship Essay Contest. Provide the name of a relative who is a registered Democrat and how they are related to you if you are not one yourself.
Write about a local current event that has personal meaning for you, such as: care of the elderly, politics, education, sports or protection of the environment.
The essay is to be 300 words or less and will be judged on content, grammar and spelling.
All entries must be postmarked no later than June 10. The winner will be announced on June 30.
