Theatre Announces Poster Contest for Kids

May 11, 2006 – From Page to Stage Inc. is holding a poster design contest for the opening play of its 2006 Main Stage season: "for colored girls who have considered suicide/when the rainbow is enuf" by Ntozake Shange. The contest is open to all students age 18 and under.
The winning artwork will be used on all posters, programs and advertisements for the August production. Some entries may be displayed at the theater during performances.
"for colored girls . . ." is a choreopoem (a play with dance and poetry) about the experience of being an African-American woman in the United States. The play is a celebration of life, resurrection, and human resilience; it is about hope, self-love and pure joy. The artwork should reflect that.
All entries must be on paper no larger than 11" x 14", must be two-dimensional and may use any media. All entries must be submitted by June 15.
The play will be presented at Good Hope School's James C. Savage Theater on Aug. 11 through 19.
Students interested in entering the contest should contact Jeanne Johnston at 712-2144 or by email at frompage2stage@yahoo.com.
