Air Force Airman David L. Butler/St. Thomas
May 2, 2006 (Army & Air Force Hometown News) – Air Force Airman David L. Butler has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies. He performed drill and ceremony marches, practiced rifle marksmanship and field-training exercises, received physical training, and had special training in human relations.
In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
He is the son of Rita Robles of Estate Tutu, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.
Butler is a 2003 graduate of All Saints Cathedral School, St. Thomas.
Air Force Airman Ashton F. Frett Jr./St. Thomas
May 4, 2006 (Army & Air Force Hometown News) – Air Force Airman Ashton F. Frett Jr. has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, military customs and courtesies. He also performed drill and ceremony marches, received physical training, rifle marksmanship and field training exercises, and had special training in human relations.
In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
He is the son of Carol Thomas of Estate Tutu, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.
Frett is a 2003 graduate of Charlotte Amalie High School, St. Thomas.
Airman 1st Class Alene A. Springer/St. Croix
May 15, 2006 (Army & Air Force Hometown News) – Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Alene A. Springer has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches; and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises and special training in human relations.
In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
She is the daughter of Kenneth G. and Lucy K. Springer of Christiansted, Virgin Islands.
Springer is a 1992 graduate of St. Joseph Catholic High School, Frederiksted, V.I.
Army National Guard Priv. Francillia M. Benjamin/St. Croix
May 16, 2006 (Army & Air Force Hometown News) – Army National Guard Pvt. Francillia M. Benjamin has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, and physical fitness. She received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, the military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.
Benjamin is the daughter of Edith Christopher of Grove Place, Frederiksted, Virgin Islands.
She is a 2005 graduate of St. Croix Educational Complex, Christiansted, V.I.
Air Force Airman 1st Class Kern M. George/St. Thomas
May 22, 2006 (Army & Air Force Hometown News) – Air Force Airman 1st Class Kern M. George has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches; and received physical training. He also received instruction and practice in rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations.
In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
He is the son of Lucien and Joan George of Anna's Retreat, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.
George graduated in 2000 from Ivanna Eudora Kean High School, St. Thomas.
Air Force Senior Airman Ellis O. Christian/St. Thomas
May 24, 2006 (Army & Air Force Hometown News) – Air Force Senior Airman Ellis O. Christian graduated from the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard Technical Training School at Bolling Air Force Base, Washington, D.C.
Graduates serve as ceremonial guardsmen who represent the Air Force in ceremonial functions in the Washington, D.C. area and around the world.
The elite 160-person honor guard unit, headquartered at Bolling, is screened for abilities and physical coordination to complete an in- depth, six-week training period. Trainees are taught excellence in self-discipline, job requirements, uniform care, ceremonial marching, and proper handling of the honor guard's ceremonial weapon, a fully functional M-1A1 rifle.
Honor guard service members render military honors for Air Force members and their families during funeral services and wreath laying ceremonies at the Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington National Cemetery, Va. They also perform ceremonial activities for visiting and departing dignitaries at the Pentagon, White House and Andrews Air Force Base, Md., and color guard duties for official White House receptions and other state and military protocol.
He is the son of Ellis O. and Judith Christian of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.
Christian is a 1999 graduate of Charlotte Amalie High School, St. Thomas and received a bachelor's degree in 2002 from Florida Institute of Technology, Melbourne.
