District Foreign Language Showcase Winners

April 6, 2006 – The results of the St. Thomas-St. John District's 2006 District Foreign Language Cultural Showcase held on April 1, at the Tutu Park Mall are as follows:
Elementary Division – Copying the Masters Category: Dorick Williams, Lockhart Elementary School, first place – rendition of Diego Rivera's "Head of Stag;" De Rosa Delia Basier Mercedes, E. Benjamin Oliver Elementary School, second place – copied Diego Rivera's "The Flower Vendor;" Pernilia Xavier, Peace Corps Elementary School – third place – rendition of Sixto Cotto's "My Country."
In the Languages Bridges to Communication (2006 theme) Posters Category: Shantel Webster, Moravian School, first place; Adrian Rodriquez, Lockhart Elementary School, second place; Jada Turbe, Moravian School, third place.
In the Division of Foreign Language Architectural World Wonders: Joseph Sibilly Elementary School students reigned in this category. First place went to Avery Barry for her imitation of the Pyramids of Mexico and second place went to Niles Eddy for his copy of the Pyramids of Mexico.
In the Piñatas Division: Sabrina Celestine, Elementary School, first place; Seriah Silcott, also of the Peace Corps Elementary School, received the second place trophy.
Secondary School Division – Copying of the Masters Category: Bianca Harley, Charlotte Amalie High School, first place – rendition of Claude Monet's " La Japonaise;" Ivanna Eudora Kean High School, second place – copy of Botero's "Still Life with Mandoli;" Aniqua Dessout, Charlotte Amalie's High School, third place – copy of Claude Monet's" Terrace at Sainte Adresse."
In the Languages Bridges to Communication (2006 theme) Posters Category: All three prizes were claimed by the Addelita Cancryn Junior High School. First place, Marisela Narcisse; second and third place trophies went to Alyssa Martin and Tia Abraham, respectively.
In the Foreign Language Architectural World Wonders Division: Corry Malcolm and Vinson Cuffy, Charlotte Amalie High School, first place – rendition of "L'Arc de Triomphe;" Isa Noel, Vinson Cuffy and Marcus Louis of the Charlotte Amalie High School received second place honors for their copy of "La Pyramide du Louvre;" Aarti Sooknan, Addelita Cancryn Junior High School, third place – model of the Eiffel Tower.
Timothy Williams from the Ivanna Eudora Kean High School received the first place trophy for the secondary piñatas segment for his creation of the "Good Morning World" rooster piñata. Second and third place honors were captured by D'andra Bryan of the Bertha C. Boschulte Middle School -for her Easter Basket Piñata and LaNeisha Abraham, of the Ivanna Eudora Kean High School for her Cat on Heart Piñata.
