Hotel & Tourism Association to Donate Computers

April 4, 2006 – The United States Virgin Islands Hotel & Tourism Association (HTA) and a few generous donors have purchased 27 new Dell computers for the science lab at Adelita Cancryn School. The presentation will be made at the HTA's general membership meeting on Wednesday, April 19, at the Wyndham Sugar Bay Resort and Spa.
In addition to the contribution from the HTA Education and Training Fund, Holiday Inn and Royal Caribbean Cruise Line have both contributed $5000 toward this purchase. Nick Pourzal and Bolongo Bay Beach Resort have also stepped forward to support this effort bringing the total contribution to $30,000. The West Indian Company Limited has also joined the effort providing support for the installation of the computers.
"Three years ago the HTA determined that focusing on Education and Training would be the major community contribution of the organization," said Beverly Nicholson, president of the association. "Like all of our donations, our goal is to keep young people not only technologically savvy but competitive in a very demanding world."
