News Brief: Afternoon Fire at Anguilla Landfill Extinguished Quickly

Feb. 9, 2006 — A small fire broke out at the Anguilla landfill Thursday afternoon but was brought under control and extinguished within an hour, according to a press release from the V.I. Waste Management Authority.
The release notes that the small blaze broke out on the northern face of the landfill adjacent to the Anguilla Wastewater Treatment Plant.
VIWMA extended its appreciation to V.I. Fire Services' timely response and also noted the assistance of workers from the Department of Planning and Natural Resources, along with VIWMA officials.
