Military News of Virgin Islanders – February 2006

Army Pfc. Edwin Torres Jr./St. Croix
Feb. 6, 2006 (Army & Air Force Hometown News) – Army Pfc. Edwin Torres Jr. has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Knox, Ky.
During the nine-week training period, the trainee received instruction in drill and ceremony, weapons, rifle marksmanship and bayonet training, chemical warfare, field training and tactical exercises. He also learned armed and unarmed combat, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, as well as Army history, traditions and core values.
Torres is the son of Edwin and Zaida Torres of Rural Route 2, Kingshill, Virgin Islands.
Air Force Airman Sherisse D. Allen/St. Croix
Feb. 13, 2006 (Army & Air Force Hometown News) – Air Force Airman Sherisse D. Allen has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies. She performed drill and ceremony marches, received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations.
In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Allen is the daughter of Beverly Revan of Whim, Fredericksted, Virgin Islands, and Russell Allen of Sionhill, Christiansted, Virgin Islands.
The airman is a 2005 graduate of St. Croix Educational Complex, Kingshill, Virgin Islands.
Army Sgt. Jaime Euzebe/St. Croix
Feb. 13, 2006 (Army & Air Force Hometown News) – Army Sgt. Jaime Euzebe has returned to Fort Stewart, Ga. after being deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The soldier is a member of Task Force 4th-64th Armor Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division.
Operation Iraqi Freedom is the official name given to military operations involving members of the U.S. armed forces and coalition forces participating in efforts to free and secure Iraq. Mission objectives focus on force protection, peacekeeping, stabilization, security and counter-insurgency operations as the Iraqi transitional governing bodies assume full sovereign powers to govern the peoples of Iraq.
Members from all branches of the U.S. military and multinational forces are also assisting in rebuilding Iraq's economic and governmental infrastructure, and training and preparing Iraqi military and security forces to assume full authority and responsibility in defending and preserving Iraq's sovereignty and independence as a democracy.
Euzebe, a fire support supervisor with seven years of military service, is the son of Joan A. Euzebe of Peters Rest, Christiansted, U.S. Virgin Islands.
Army Sgt. Toya N. Alexander/St. Thomas
Feb. 14, 2006 (Army & Air Force Hometown News) – Army Sgt. Toya N. Alexander has graduated from the Chaplain Assistant Advanced Individual Training course at the Chaplain School, Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.The course emphasized religious support, development of interpersonal skills and unit ministry support to soldiers and family members. The support training provided services in a battlefield environment and battle fatigue casualty care.Religious support classes instructed students to prepare altars for Protestant, Roman Catholic, Jewish, and Orthodox worship services and stressed the importance of being knowledgeable of all faith groups represented in the Army.Alexander is the daughter of Velma A. Fahie, granddaughter of Arona F. Fahie, and niece of Windy A. Fahie, all of Annas Retreat, St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.She graduated in the year 2000 from Ivanna Eudora Kean High School, St. Thomas.
Navy Airman Apprentice Ivan E. Diaz/St. Croix
Feb. 13, 2006 (Fleet Hometown News Center) – Navy Airman Apprentice Ivan E. Diaz, son of Nydia E. and Angel E. Diaz of St. Croix, V. I., recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.
During the eight-week program, Diaz completed a variety of training, which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness.
The capstone event of boot camp is "Battle Stations". This exercise gives recruits the skills and confidence they need to succeed in the fleet. "Battle Stations" is designed to galvanize the basic warrior attributes of sacrifice, dedication, teamwork and endurance in each recruit through the practical application of basic Navy skills and the core values of honor, courage and commitment. Its distinctly ''Navy'' flavor was designed to take into account what it means to be a sailor.
Air Force Airman 1st Class Jahsan A. Page/St. Thomas
Feb. 16, 2006 (Army & Air Force Hometown News) – Air Force Airman 1st Class Jahsan A. Page has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies. He performed drill and ceremony marches, received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises and special training in human relations.
In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
He is the son of Tosca Page of Estate Tutu, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, and grandson of Marjorie Robinson of Highland Ave., St. Louis, Mo.
Page graduated in 2000 from Charlotte Amalie High School, St. Thomas, and received an associate degree in 2002 from New Mexico Junior College, Hobbs.
Air Force Airman Asia C. Hill/St. Thomas
Feb. 16, 2006 (Army & Air Force hometown News) – Air Force Airman Asia C. Hill has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies. She performed drill and ceremony marches, received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises and special training in human relations.

She is the daughter of Donald and Kellie Charles of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.

Army Pvt. Antonio A. Santos/St. Croix
Feb. 16, 2006 (Army & Air Force Hometown News) – Army Pvt. Antonio A. Santos has graduated from basic combat military training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.
During the eight weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission and received instruction in drill and ceremonies, rifle marksmanship, weapons, map reading, tactics, armed and unarmed combat, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, Army history, core values and traditions, and special training in human relations.
Santos is the son of Sherry Simmonds of Monbijou, Kingshill, U.S. Virgin Islands.
Air Force Airman 1st Class Sherraine S. Barbel/St. Thomas
Feb. 21, 2006 (Army & Air Force Hometown News) – Air Force Airman 1st Class Sherraine S. Barbe
l has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies. She performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations.

She is the daughter of Avarel Rivera of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.
Barbel is a 2004 graduate of Charlotte Amalie High School, St. Thomas.
Army Pvt. Holly L. Rougier/St. Croix
Feb. 24, 2006 (Army & Air Force Hometown News) – Army Pvt. Holly L. Rougier has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values and physical fitness, basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony. She also received instruction and practice in marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, the military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.
She is the daughter of Derrick Rougier of Kingshill, St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands.
The private is a 2005 graduate of St. Croix Central High School.
