Joe Potter Dies in Florida at 83

Dec. 1, 2005 – Joseph Nathan Potter Sr., long time resident of St. Thomas, died Tuesday, Nov. 29 in Pembroke Pines, FL. He was 83.
Joe was born October 22, 1922 in New York City to Joseph & Izetta Potter originally of Anegada, B.V.I. He lived and attended school in Harlem, New York City. He married Cassandra Beulah Shepherd on May 9, 1942. She preceded him in death in 1996.
Joe is survived by a brother, Arthur Potter; his son: Joseph N. Potter Jr.; four daughters: Rev. B. Leslie James, Cynthia Urquhart, Jeffrey Potter-Canton, and Tommye Canton; two nephews: Toussaint Potter and John Potter; and one niece: Edwina White.
Joe is also survived by fifteen grandchildren: Lisa Potter-Lee, Joseph N. Potter III, Tommye James-Modeste, Glynis Urquhart, Yvette Spivey, Joe Urquhart, Keiya Canton, Ebuni Phillips, Leander James, Christopher Potter, Keito Canton, Nia James, Ginja Canton, Wade Canton, Jr., Gary James.
Joe also leaves 14 great-grandchildren, many cousins and close family friends.
