Man Shot Dead in Estate Tutu Saturday Morning

Nov. 5, 2005 – One man is dead, another is injured after gunfire ripped through the silence of the early morning hours on Saturday. The two unidentified victims were, according to law enforcement sources, sleeping in a Mazda Protege near a residence in Estate Tutu, when their vehicle came under gunfire.
The homicide victim, described only as a young, black male, was shot through the neck, he was seated in the front passenger seat of the compact car. An 18-year-old man who was in the driver's seat was shot in the finger.
Police sources said Saturday that homicide detectives believe the perpetrator, who remains at large, shot through the vehicle from the right side. Reports of the shooting came into police dispatch shortly after 3 a.m.
The killing is the 16th for the year on St. Thomas, the territory's 37th. By the same time last year the territory had logged 32 homicides, 14 of them on St. Thomas.
