HOVENSA Supports Boy Scouts

Oct. 16, 2005 – The VI Council of the Boy Scouts of America is $25,000 richer thanks to a donation by HOVENSA.
Last week Larry Kupfer, HOVENSA president and CEO, presented the check to the Boy Scouts. This is the first of five contributions HOVENSA will make over the next five years to fulfill a $125,000 pledge to the Boy Scouts.
Kupfer said in a release that the strong commitment of the Boy Scouts' board of directors and volunteers in building the scouting program influenced HOVENSA's decision to make the contribution.
"We see this as a great opportunity for our company to partner with the Boy Scouts organization to improve the quality of life for the youth of the Virgin Islands," Kupfer said.
Boy Scouts Executive Charlie Tinsley accepted the check at the St. Croix refinery. The contribution coincides with the VI Council of the Boy Scouts of America's Friends of Scouting annual campaign.
