Oct. 11, 2005 – The Caribbean Museum Center for the Arts will host a reception for international artist-in-residence Tony Monsanto on Friday, Oct. 14, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monsanto's new collages and works on paper will be exhibited until Oct. 19, at 62 King Street in Frederiksted, according to a press release from CMCArts.
On Saturday, Oct. 15, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., CMCArts will present a lecture/slide presentation by Monsanto and an artist critique for local artists.
On Sunday, Oct. 16, Monsanto will hold painting and drawing workshops for teens at CMCArts.
On Monday Oct. 17 through Wednesday Oct. 19, Monsanto is holding painting and drawing workshops for adults at CMCArts.
"Tony Monsanto has played a significant role in the creation of this greater visibility for the modern art of Curacao. It is gratifying to observe the strength with which Monsanto reinvigorates painting. He is thoroughly imbued with the aura provided by Caribbean light and color," stated Edward J. Sullivan, Ph.D., Chairman Department of Art History, Acting Dean of Humanities, New York University.
