Police Have Not Identified Tuesday's Shooting Victim

Aug. 23, 2005 – St. Thomas police have no suspects or motive in the territory's latest homicide which occurred around 2 a.m. Tuesday. V.I. Police Department spokesman Sgt. Thomas Hannah said investigators are "going on very little information" and have appealed to the public for assistance. "The victim has not been identified pending notification of next of kin," Hannah said.
The body of the unidentified black male was found by police just north of Western Cemetery No. 1 in a narrow alley which leads to the Evelyn Marcelli Elementary School. The victim died of gunshot wounds to the body. "At the time he was shot, the victim was wearing a black tee shirt, black short pants and black and white slippers," Hannah said.
Anyone with information should contact the VIPD Major Crime Unit at 715-5534, 715-5546 or the emergency number, 911.
Medical Examiner Dr. Francisco Landron said Tuesday he will schedule an autopsy either later in the day or on Wednesday. The murder is the 26th killing in the territory this year, 13 in each island district.
