I am Elmo M. Jones Jr. of Spring Lake, North Carolina.
It was in 1974 when I first met Mrs. Woods. I'm a
former Charlotte Amalie High School Art student of
hers.
In 1977, I left St. Thomas to pursue a career in the
U.S. Army. No matter how far I traveled I had always
remembered Mrs. Woods via cards and letters. Since
1977 and as late as December 2004, she had sent
Christmas cards. Never failing, all of her cards had
amphibian motifs.
Remembering Mrs. Woods is my way of saying farewell to
a friend. I remember her as being a gentle giant. I
remember her as being kind and thoughtful. I will miss
her but mostly I will remember her.
