Community Alert: Bad Heroin Causing Deaths

July 30, 2005 – Bad heroin has been the cause of at least three recent deaths in St. Thomas.
Sgt. Thomas Hannah said that autopsy reports confirmed suspicions of members of the police department. He added that the department also had reports about where the bad heroin was purchased and an investigation is ongoing.
He said one incident was especially tragic because the friend of the young male who died was from off island and drove around lost trying to find the hospital and then got to the hospital too late to help his friend.
Police are asking people with information about this incident to call the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 778-2211 or call 911.
