July 5, 2005 Proceedings of the Virgin Islands Senate will now be broadcast live over the Internet through the website affiliated with WIUJ Radio (102.9-FM).
Leo Moron, the general manager of the station, announced Tuesday the launching of the station's live audio streaming to the Internet. It is the latest technological advance for the station known for its gavel-to-gavel coverage of Senate proceedings.
The station launched its website at www.wiuj.com in January, Moron said. Over the past weekend, the live audio stream was put in place. "With the help of engineer Tom Ray III, we were able to get the audio stream up and running. Now the meetings and hearings in the V.I. Senate can be heard all over the world," Morone said.
WIUJ has been broadcasting Senate hearings and proceedings for a number of years dating back to when the station was located on Fireburn Hill on St. Thomas. The studio is now at Mountain Top.
Anyone wanting to follow developments at the V.I. Legislature can log on to the website and click on the live link to the Senate, Moron said.
