June 13, 2005 — Three days of festivities are in store this weekend as the Committee for the Betterment of Carenage (CBC) presents its annual Father's Day weekend celebration, June 17 through 19.
There will be live music and lots of local food and drinks on sale and activities for all ages, said Gail Danet-Joseph of CBC. The events will be staged once again this year inside the Joseph Aubain Ball Park in Frenchtown.
Among the bands participating in the weekend celebration are Imaginations Brass, which originated in Frenchtown; Pyour Passion; Milo's Kings; Sea Breeze Band; and Sammy Watts Combo.
The official opening ceremony, featuring the coronation of Miss Carenage 2005 Shanelle Brin, will be held Friday at 7:30 p.m.
According to Joseph, this year's event will also honor Clement "Cain" Magras, whose many carnival entries and costume designs have helped to preserve the culture of the islands.
Cain was honored this year by the V.I. Carnival Committee, being named the Grand Marshal of the Adults Parade.
Everyone is invited to the three-day celebration.
