News Brief: Women's Hall of Fame

May 23, 2005 – The V.I. Commission on the Status of Women wants nominations to its Women's Hall of Fame.
Five each will be selected from the St. Thomas/St. John and St. Croix districts, and nominees may include women still living, as well as those who have died.
A formal induction ceremony will be held to honor selected women on Oct. 15 on St. Croix, and Oct. 29 on St. Thomas.
The Hall of Fame is dedicated to honoring the accomplishments of women who have contributed toward the improvement of the territory's communities, culture, and people. Areas in which women have contributed to the territory might include the arts, business, community service, government, health, religion, sports and others.
The public is invited to submit names until June 30. Applications will be available starting Wednesday at Tourism Department offices and the Legislature in both St. Thomas/St. John and St. Croix districts.
Additionally, applications can be found at Nisky Pharmacy, and the office of St. Thomas/Water Island administrator James O'Bryan.
Water Island residents can pick up applications at the Water Island Post Office and from Alex Randall.
