DPNR Hosts Workshops on New Building Codes

May 17, 2005 — Commissioner Dean C. Plaskett, Esq. of the Department of Planning and Natural Resources announces that the DIVISION OF PERMITS in collaboration with the VIRGIN ISLANDS ENERGY OFFICE and officials from the INTERNATIONAL CODE COUNCIL (ICC) will be conducting four (4) days of training and workshops simultaneously on both St. Thomas and St. Croix, relative to the newly adopted and implemented, 2003 series of INTERNATIONAL BUILDING CODES.
Pre-registration deadline for the workshops is May 31, 2005,
$25 registration fee per day includes breakfast, lunch, and afternoon refreshments.
All persons interested in sitting for the Paper/Pencil certification examination to be held for ONE DAY ONLY on St. Croix, at the Charles Harwood Memorial Complex training room, on June 10, 2005, at 8:00 a.m., must pre-register with ICC through DPNR on or before May 31, 2005.
WORKSHOP SCHEDULE: ALL SESSIONS BEGIN PROMPTLY AT 8:30 A.M

June 6 – 2003 International Building Code Fundamentals
June 7 – 2003 International Residential Code Fundamentals
June 8 – 2003 International Mechanical Code Fundamentals
June 9 – 2003 International Energy Conservation Code Fundamentals
June 10 – Residential Building Inspector Testing 8 a.m. – 11 a.m.
Commercial Building Inspector Testing 11a.m. – 3 p.m.
Building Plans Examiner Testing 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
ST. THOMAS
June 6 – 2003 International Residential Code Fundamentals at Office of Management and Budget
June 7 – 2003 International Building Code Fundamentals at the Windward Passage Holiday Inn
June 8 – 2003 International Energy Conservation Code at the Windward Passage Holiday Inn
June 9 – 2003 International Mechanical Code at the Windward Passage Holiday Inn
