How Long Will We Be Hostages to Thugs

Dear Source,

What's going on around here? How long will we be held hostage by these thugs who freely roam our streets?. It is getting to the point that we can't walk the streets and attend to our daily lives without falling victim to some sort of physical violence. Must we as a people sit idly by and wait to be the next victims of a home invasion, or an attempted robbery turned attempted murder in broad daylight?
What is the Police Department doing to stem this rising tide of violence? Are they at present out looking for the perpetrators? Although these situations could not have been prevented, the V.I.P.D needs to step up their game instead of thinking of setting up mounted police officers and the like, what about a data base with the pictures and fingerprints of all the known criminals in the islands.
Having such a database during the Giuliani Administration in New York caused crime rates to go down some 80 percent. Just as it is mandatory for all sexual offenders to register with the attorney general, all criminals upon release from jail should be put into a database so when a crime is committed and it matches their modus operandi, they can easily be found and questioned.
I have found in my conversations with people that their faith in the police department has waned, and many feel that possession of a firearm is the only way to adequately protect home and family. Are we to become an armed camp, criminals on one side – .law abiding citizens on the other – and the cops in the middle? Can we afford for this to become our everyday reality?
