Parking Rules and Restrictions During Carnival

April 18, 2005 — The Virgin Islands Police Department will be enforcing parking and other restrictions during the preparation for Carnival and related activities. According to Deputy Chief Fahie, the following restrictions apply through May 7.
Carnival Village Parking:
— Effective Friday Night, April 15, at parking will be prohibited in the Fort Christian Parking Lot to allow for the construction and dismantling of the Carnival Village.
Lionel Roberts Stadium:
— During the activities at Lionel Roberts's stadium, traffic will be restricted to a loop pattern. Vehicles traveling West on Polyberg Hill will execute a left turn at the signal light, a right onto Kongens Gade near the Department of Education, and right onto Hospital Gade thereby traversing north towards Human Services.
Food Arts and Arts Fair Day Activities:
— On Wednesday, April 27, traffic flow around the fair will be as follows; A. Tolbod Plasden Gade the Street that runs east to west, south of Emancipation Gardens, and B. Fortes Strade, which runs west to east and north of Emancipation Gardens, will be closed to vehicle traffic.
J'Ouvert—Veterans Drive:
— On Thursday April 28, Veterans Drive will be closed to vehicle traffic from 4 a.m. until noon.
Parade Days:
— On Friday and Saturday, April 29 and 30, no parking will be allowed on the parade route on Kronprindsens Gade, Main Street, Hospital Gade and Berge Gade, from 4 a.m. until the parades has concluded. Vehicles will be towed at owner's expense.
Race Track Activities:
— On Friday, April 29, during the Race Track activities, no parking will be allowed on either side of the road from Nadir Intersection to the Purple Shop in Bovoni. Vehicles parked inside of the racetrack, when exiting will make a left turn and travel west. Right turns will not be permitted until the activity is over. Vehicles found park in violation of these special regulations will be ticketed and towed.
Prohibited Parking Rules and Other Restrictions In Effect During the Carnival Activities:
Effective Saturday, April 16, vehicles found parked in restricted areas in and around the Carnival Village will be cited and towed at the owner's expense. This includes but is not limited to parking on sidewalks in the area of the Legislature Complex, Post Office and Main Street, parking less than 10 feet from the corner or a fire hydrant, or parking more than 12 inches from the curb.
Restrictions also include parking in front of the Criminal Justice Complex on Hospital Gade, parking where it interferes with the normal flow of traffic, in taxi stands and handicapped areas. There will be no speeding or drag racing on public roads.
Parking on Main Street from Monday, April 24 to Saturday, April 30, between 6 p.m. and midnight, is also prohibited.
