Victim of Sion Farm Shooting Dies

March 17, 2005 – Anthony Marrero, 33, died Wednesday morning a week after being shot several times near Plot 8 in Sion Farms.
According to Sgt. Thomas Hannah, police spokesman, Marrero had been standing outside, talking to some friends and relatives. A sedan pulled up. A masked individual stepped out of the vehicle, targeted Marrero and shot him several times. He had been taken to the hospital and listed in critical condition after surgery.
Hannah said that Marrero had been known to police and had recently served time in prison. This is not the only murder of someone recently released from prison.
Khalid Antonia Gumbs, a 19-year-old Oswald Harris Court man, also had recently been released from prison. He was shot and killed on Feb. 24 in Old Tutu.
Hannah said at this time there were no suspects in either case.
