February 17, 2005, 6:00 p.m.: Special meeting with Atty. Amelia Headley-Lamont, V.I. Advocacy Agency; Wanda Evans, Virgin Islands University Center for Excellence in Development Disabilities; and Dr. Lucia DiMeo, Learning Assistance Program of UVI. They will provide information as to the roles their programs play in advocating for and assisting students with disabilities. Parents, who have children with disabilities, are encouraged to attend this informative meeting. Parents from all schools are also invited to attend the meeting. Also at this meeting, parents will be asked to sign up to volunteer for the Parents Clean Up Days coming up in preparation for the Accreditation Team visit.
February 22, 2005, 6:00 p.m.: Black History Month Program. Instead of the regular monthly PTSA meeting, the PTSA will sponsor a show on black history. St. Croix Center Stage has agreed to do a performance in honor of the Queens of Fire Burn. Students of the STX Complex who are models with Cyndee’s Models and Tech Basic Art/Textile Design will model. The senior class is trying to get a dance group together to participate. Members of the senior class will provide babysitting services. Refreshments will be on sale.
February 25, 26, and 27, 2005: Parents Service and Clean Up Days. All parents and students are asked to come out and lend a hand in preparing the school for the Accreditation Team visit.
March 5-6, 2005: Parents Service and Clean Up Days. Again, all parents and students are asked to come out and lend a hand in preparing the school for the Accreditation Team visit.
March 8-11, 2005: Accreditation Team visit. Parents interested in assisting with the school’s presentation on these days are asked to contact Ms. Bryson at the school right away.
March 13, 2005: All students at the Educational Complex will be given the IOWA Test on this day. Parents are asked to ensure that their children get a good night’s sleep the night before, eat a hearty breakfast, and come to school on time on the morning of the test. It is extremely important that all students do well on the IOWA Test.
[Note: Above date is Sunday. School officials stated by telephone that the IOWA test will be administered sometime during the school week of March 14-18.]
March 16, 2005: Special meeting with Francisco Depusoir presenting on Tax Preparation. Parents are asked to come out and learned from this learned individual.
March 22, 2005: PTSA Membership meeting showcasing Summer Jobs and Community Service Opportunities, presented by the Department of Labor.
