Study Assesses Public School Paraprofessionals

Feb. 10, 2005 — The Virgin Islands Department of Education in cooperation with the Educational Testing Services has engaged in a standards setting study to assess the territory’s 317 paraprofessionals.
“The process is designed to facilitate the establishment of passing scores for the paraprofessional examination which paraprofessionals hired by the V.I. Department of Education will be required to take in order to meet the highly qualified definition of the No Child Left Behind Act," said Alscess Lewis Brown, Human Resource Director.
A total of 19 paraprofessionals and four teachers took part in the study Thursday at the St. Croix District Curriculum Center.
