"It's a total celebration of the full-figured woman," organizer Kimberly Rodriquez said Friday.
She said that 70 percent of women across the Caribbean are considered full-figured.
The show's nine contestants hail from across the Caribbean and the U.S. mainland, giving the program an international flavor.

Anna-Maria John, 23, is a hairstylist in Dominica.

He said the evening begins with a production number that includes dancing. After the contestants are introduced, they'll appear again in a costume representing their home island or state, in swimwear and evening wear.
Each will make a presentation speech, perform a talent segment and participate in a question and answer session.
