Sorority's "Fashionetta"™ Applications Available

Jan. 5, 2005 — Sigma Theta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. announces that applications are available for its 2005 Young Pearls Program in conjunction with its "Fashionetta"™, (formally known as Cotillion) which is an eight (8) month rites of passage program for girls in 10th and 11th grades. The program features various educational and fun activities, which promotes personal growth, career development, community service and positive interaction with other teens. The Young Pearls Program culminates with a formal presentation on November 19, 2005 before family and friends. To be considered for the program and presentation a young lady must: be a high school student in grade 10th through 11th, have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher and submit the completed official application and application fee.
Our first formally known Cotillion was held November 1997. It was a success due to the quality of the participants and tremendous community support. Our scholarship awards were made possible from the proceeds of this program. Sigma Theta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. would like to thank the Virgin Islands community for their support in the success of the program.
Applications may be picked up from the school counselor's office at Ivanna Eudora Kean H.S., Charlotte Amalie H.S., All Saints H.S., Sts. Peter & Paul H.S., Antilles School, or any member of the sorority after January 10, 2005. Completed applications must be returned to the Chapter by January 31, 2005. For further information or application, please contact Lucinda Parsons at 776-6932 in the evenings.
